Contemporary Latinas Marking Their Territory in the History of Business Economy
Brenda G. Sabater

Great minds think alike! Latina Style Business Series did it again! There was music, laughter, enthusiasm from hundreds of 'fired-up' talented and extremely motivated Latinas. Their energy resonated through the walls and hallways of the Crown Plaza Hotel in Times Square, New York on March 20th! Contemporary Latinas are marking their territory in the history of business economy. Latina Style Business Series holds strong to its mission to educate, advice, and motivate today's enthusiastic and successful small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs. "Latinas are the fastest growing segment of the business community!" declared Robert Bard, President / CEO of Latina Style magazine. It was a day of enhancement, relationship building and business development. Sponsors and agents prepared their tables with tons of business cards and invaluable information for those interested in expanding or starting a business. According to Jose Ulloa, Director of Business Development of VICOM, networking is the key for success. These tenacious trailblazers didn't waste any time; with a simple handshake and smile, they canvassed the tables and built up their contact lists. Amazing!

The savvy guest speakers and supporting team from New York Small Business Administration, Citibank, FleetBoston Financial, Principal Financial Group, New York Life, and State Farm Insurance just to name a few indulged our intuitive entrepreneurs with enormous information such as: financial education and security planning. Jeanette Lopez, Credit Manager from Citibank explained the five Cs' of saving and lending - Capacity, Capital, Collateral, Condition, and Character. Maria Andino, New York Life urgently advised all Latina business professionals to embark upon a financial security packet including the following: long term care, life insurance, a retirement plan and a will. Get wired! Turn your business into a wireless arena. Almost every business in today's economy is linked to the Internet. So then why wait any longer? The Internet is changing the way in which you conduct your business as well as changes your personal behavior. Getting integrated into the cyber world, you are not only connecting with a world of consumers but also have the potential of enhancing your business's profitability. Here are several reasons to incorporate the Internet in to your business. "Your business will reach a wider demographic population market. It is the ability to have global conference with vendors, partners, employees and customers as well as enables mobility; your business can be at two or even ten thousand places at the same time. The best part about the Internet is that it's cost effective. "said Mauricio Perez, CISCO Systems.

Don't take my word for granted! Here are few words from our entrepreneurs and how they embrace financial prosperity! "Latina Style helped me in many ways to enhance my business and one of the ways was through exposure. "- Monica Ramirez, President of ZALIA cosmetics. "Latina Style is passionate in providing support and the tools I need to start my own business to succeed. It's great to be part of the fastest growing market." - Yadhira Alvarez, Entrepreneur in Jewelry and Accessories. "The people can benefit from this seminar are entrepreneurs already doing business and people who have ideas. Latina Style Business Series is a platform in which it provides entrepreneurs the confidence, the capability and introduces them to a great network of people who are eager to show you 'How to do it? Who to talk to? What to get done? Therefore, the only one that can stop you is yourself." - Rafael Soberal, President of Lamerica, Inc."Thanks to the panelist, I learned so much more about ways to go about financing my business. I really don't think enough Latinas are aware of the government grants are available to them. Thanks to this seminar I am more confident in approaching other businesses to strengthen mine." - Francine Collora, VP Public Relations, Lamerica, Inc.
We all gathered to enjoy a delicious luncheon sponsored by Office Depot; keynote speaker Aida De Soto, President of Concepts Office Furnishing humbly shared her personal and professional story as she walked us through her path of struggles and triumph with tears of joy! Her words of wisdom and encouragement lured many business professionals to pursue their dreams at a faster pace.

These trailblazers walked away with more then what they expected to receive, motivation, stamina, and resources. In addition, our sponsors generously donated great splendid gifts such as a round trip ticket to any where in Latin America, Digital Camera, Sterling Silver matching desk set, a Coach bag, a round trip ticket to Washington, DC, Yankee Tickets, a one night stay at the Crown Plaza Hotel and much more. No one left the Crown Plaza empty-handed. Unfortunately, all good things must come to end, but just for a tiny moment. The seminar ended with creamy mouth watering deserts and of course networking, I speak for all that was music to our palm pilot. Networking meant more businesses will soon boom out in the Latino market. Latina Style will continue to be the number one innovative and practical business solutions enterprise for all types of businesses and entrepreneurs. All you need is that one sparkling idea, and Latina Style Business Series will connect your dreams to the right professionals!
