Claudia Casco to be recognized as the LATINA Style Entrepreneur of the Year

Dr. G. Patricia Herrera to be honored with the LATINA Style Advocate of the Year award

WASHINGTON, D.C., (7/9/2015) LATINA Style, Inc., the premier company addressing the needs of professional Latinas in the United States, presents the 17th Annual LATINA Style Business Series Tour in Raleigh, NC, on Friday, July 17, 2015, from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, at the Raleigh Marriott City Center hotel (500 Fayetteville St, Raleigh, NC 27601). The one-day program for Latina entrepreneurs marks its 120th stop — where participants have the opportunity to network, learn about business ownership and partake in career development seminars designed to benefit Latina professionals and entrepreneurs.

LATINA Style will honor Claudia Casco with the “Entrepreneur of the Year” award for Raleigh. Ms. Casco is originally from Mexico. She is the founder, owner and academic director of Maracas Montessori preschool and has more than 21 years of experience directing a Montessori preschool in Mexico and the United States. Claudia earned her degree in psychology and a Montessori certification by the North America Montessori Center (NAMC). She is also certified by The Yamaha Music Foundation as a children’s music teacher. She is passionate about children’s education and helping others in need. The LATINA Style “Entrepreneur of the Year” award honors leading entrepreneurs of all fields. Award finalists are nominated by community partners and are selected based on their vision, leadership, financial success, community service, and visibility as a true role model for young women.

In addition, LATINA Style is delighted to recognize Dr. G. Patricia Herrera with the “Advocate of the Year” award. Nominated by community partners, including the North Carolina Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Herrera has been chosen because of her lifetime achievements and her distinguishability as a role model. This coveted award is presented to individuals who are champions of leadership and community service. Dr. Herrera is a practicing internal medicine doctor in Raleigh, NC. She is well-known for her passion for serving the Latino community and promoting healthy lifestyles. Since the opening of her practice in Raleigh, the majority of her patients have been Latino children.  She is an active member of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. 

LATINA Style is delighted to announce Marisa Rivera as the keynote speaker. Ms. Rivera is the president of Mpowerment Works; a consulting firm designed to impact global change by empowering people, especially focusing on empowering the majority — women. Mpowerment Works, LLC, provides unique domestic and international seminars, keynote presentations, and innovative programs; all designed to empower people to become agents of social change. Ms. Rivera is a social entrepreneur. Currently she is producing Latina Voices: Leadership Journeys, educational video showcasing Latina leaders sharing their secrets to success. Ms. Rivera is originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico. She has a bachelor’s degree in communications from American University and a master’s degree in education administration from Western Illinois University. She is an alumna of the Harvard University John F. Kennedy School of Government School of Government Executive Program, the Center for Creative Leadership Institute, the Gallup Leadership Institute, the HACR Harvard Business Executive Program on Corporate Governance, and the Mexican American Solidarity Foundation.

Emmy® award-winning anchor, Leyla Santiago of WRAL-TV on FOX50, will present as Emcee during the opening ceremony and morning program. Leyla was born in Puerto Rico and resides in South Carolina. “As journalists, I believe it’s our job to provide accurate and balanced information in context. Perspective can be one of the most important things we can provide our viewers,” says Leyla. Also, Univision’s host of news segment 34 Prosperity Atlanta, Ginna Cardenas, will serve as the Mistress of Ceremonies during the luncheon program. A native of Colombia, Ginna came to the city of Atlanta in 2001. Ginna provides recommendations for improving personal finances and business, safety advice at home, compared to products on the market and constant analysis of the US economic outlook, among other topics.
